1. Who is responsible for your information

This site is operated by Yann Allard, owner of L'Étoile de Maski, a tourist residence (CITQ 226833, expires 2027-08-11), 483 rue Maskinongé, Saint-Gabriel (Québec) J0K 2N0. The operator is an individual and has no Québec enterprise number (NEQ).

2. What we collect, and why

Contact form. Name, email address, message. Used to answer your request. Sent to our management software (Chaletik) and kept for 24 months after the last exchange.

Booking through Airbnb. From Airbnb we receive your first and last name, the number of guests, the dates of your stay, the confirmation code and the messages exchanged on the platform. This information is used to prepare and manage your stay, including sending the welcome email and programming the door code. Airbnb applies its own privacy policy to everything that happens on its platform, payment included.

Outdoor cameras. The grounds of the chalet are filmed continuously by outdoor cameras. There are no cameras inside. Purpose: security of the property and documenting damage. The footage is viewed only by the operator and only when an incident occurs. It is kept for 30 days, then deleted automatically.

Email. Messages sent to contact@letoiledemaski.com arrive in our management software. An automated assistant reads incoming messages to sort them and draft a reply. Every reply is sent in the name of L'Étoile de Maski; you can answer at any time to reach a person directly.

3. Where your information is stored

The information described above is stored outside Québec, with the following providers:

• Chaletik, management software operated by Yann Allard (Québec), whose database is hosted by DigitalOcean in New York (United States).
• Amazon Web Services, United States: sending and receiving the management software’s email.
• Anthropic, United States: the automated processing of incoming email described in section 2. Anthropic does not use this information to train its models.
• Cloudflare, United States: network, contact-form protection (Turnstile) and photo hosting.
• Google, United States: the map embedded on the Location page (Google receives your IP address when the map loads) and visit statistics if you turn them on (section 4).

Each of these providers is bound by a contract that limits its use of the information to providing its service.

4. Cookies and visit statistics

This site sets no session cookie. Your language and theme preferences (em_lang and em_theme) are kept in your browser's local storage and never leave your device.

Visit statistics (Google Analytics): off by default. No audience-measurement cookie is set without your consent. A banner asks you on your first visit. You can turn measurement on or off at any time with the “Visit statistics” link at the bottom of every page. When it is on, Google sets the _ga and _ga_* cookies (13 months) and receives the pages you view along with a truncated version of your IP address.

5. How long we keep it

• Contact-form messages: 24 months after the last exchange.
• Booking data: 7 years after the stay (tax obligation).
• Camera footage: 30 days.

After these periods, the information is deleted or anonymized.

6. Your rights

You can ask for access to the information we hold about you, its correction, its deletion, the withdrawal of your consent, or a copy in a structured technological format. Write to contact@letoiledemaski.com. We answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca).

7. Security and incidents

Access to the information is limited to the operator and, for the information strictly needed for their work, to the cleaning staff. Connections are encrypted. Every confidentiality incident is recorded in a register. If an incident presents a risk of serious harm, the people concerned and the Commission d'accès à l'information are notified.

8. Changes

The date at the top of the page shows the last change. A significant change is announced on the home page for 30 days.
